God, may my eyes and ears be open to you today, amen.
1 Peter 4:8-11
10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace
1 Peter 4:8
As soon as my wife and I found out we were having our first child, everyone started prepping us on the changes we should expect to happen as the baby arrived. However, in all of the wisdom we received, no one informed me that as my child grew he would start asking for my food. Prior to children, I resonated deeply with Joey from the show Friends, Brandon doesn’t share food. Now I have a kid who occasionally wants to eat the same food I am having. I did not anticipate how much I would enjoy sharing food with him.
You have been given gifts. We read in 1 Peter that you have received a gift from God. As we discover what gifts we have received, we are called to share our gifts with others. What you have been given from God is not meant to be buried under the frustration or shame of not having someone else’s gift. Neither is the gift meant to be hoarded to yourself only using it when it has clear benefits to you. Your gifts are meant to be shared with those you encounter. In the situation we currently find ourselves, one of the best ways you can serve others is to freely share your God given gifts. How are you sharing your gifts with one another?
What gifts have you been given by God?
How can you freely share your gifts with those you encounter?
How have you been impacted by others sharing their gifts with you?
God, show me how I can serve others with my gifts today, in Jesus’ name, amen.
