Burn the Ships

The 16th Century Spanish conquistador, Hernán Cortéz, led 500 men on 11 ships to conquer and settle land in Latin America. Against all odds, they were able to accomplish this, though others before them had failed. How? Cortez gave a command as soon as they reached shore, “Burn the ships.” In our faith, there is no “plan B.” We must be willing to follow Jesus, no turning back. This requires us to burn the ships to our old life and follow Jesus into a brave new world. We are all-in for Jesus.
